OUR STAFF

  • Growing up in Massachusetts, Matt is everything Boston.  But he upgraded significantly by marrying an Oregon girl, Hillary.  The day Matt and Hillary moved to Bend, they ended up at a Compass cookout.  This was the point when Matt realized that he didn't know the "real" Jesus.  He soon made the decision to put his life in Jesus' hands, pick up his cross and follow Him.   A few years later, Matt left his teaching job to become Compass' Youth Pastor... and remained there for 7 years before returning to Mountain View High School to teach math. Matt and Hillary have returned to Bend after spending a year in the Portland-area as an assistant principal.  They have two children--Awbrey and Avery.

  • KELLEY JONES Associate Pastor

    kelley@compassbend.com

Kelley and his wife Kathy are excited to be back at Compass. They have lived in Bend for over 20 years and have three grown kids and six grand-kids. Kelley brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Compass as a former Lead Pastor and Youth Pastor. His love for people and God's Word, along with his "front porch style of teaching" is a great combination. On a quiet summer day you might find him on a lake with his fly rod inviting fish to join him.

  • Truett oversees our kids and youth ministries and he came to us in 2015. He serves has our "Youth Pastor" on Wednesday Nights. His love for Jesus, kids and fun is rarely matched. He grew up in Arkansas and settled in Colorado where he married his wonderful wife, Ruth. They have a crazy cool daughter named Elsa (yes, before the movie). Truett earned his degree in Elementary Education from Colorado Christian University. He has done about everything in ministry from a children's pastor to worship pastor to the youth pastor. He is always ready to jump in! When he's not working (and even when he is), you can find him on a mountain somewhere or on his mountain bike.

  • LEXI WALKER Children's Pastor

    lexi@compassbend.com

Lexi was born in Las Vegas and grew up there and in Colorado, before attending the University of Wyoming after High School. Lexi came to Compass as an intern in 2017 because of her love for building into the lives of students. There is talk that her and Truett go way back, maybe that's why she understands Arkansas?? She did such a phenomenal job, we crashed her car, threw away her suitcase, and told her that God obviously didn't want her to leave. And she was rewarded!  Yeah!  She met her husband, Brendan, and is glad to make Bend and Compass her permanent home.

  • SARAH STACY Musical Worship Leader

    sarah@compassbend.com

Sarah grew up in Southern Oregon and has always been big into sports, music, and Jesus! She has a huge collection of board games and yard games, and may be a TINY bit competitive as she takes her competition down (but, always tries to play nicely). Sarah likes to have fun and laugh, but also enjoys going deep in meaningful conversations with good friends. She loves hiking, biking, snow skiing, and most other outdoor activities. Sarah began leading worship as a high school student and feels blessed and excited to be able to serve in this role at Compass. Her desire is for the church to understand the fun and freedom that can come through praise and worship, and that God uses it to move mightily in our lives! May the joy of the Lord be your strength, oh yeah!

  • Doug Ingham

A native Oregonian, growing up and spending most of my life in Portland Oregon before retiring to Bend in 2015. Doug asked the Lord into my life one evening in January 1986. Doug and his wife of 43 years found Compass Church in 2016. Having a heart for people and prayer Doug leads our Prayer Team.

  • Steve Weaver

Steve was born in Idaho, but he grew up living in both Oregon and Idaho, bouncing back and forth, as his family moved around. He signed up and dedicated the next four years to the Air Force where he came to know the Lord one Sunday morning in a small Florida church. After his military adventure ended, Steve returned to Idaho where he married his beautiful bride Lois. Steve, an engineer by day, author by night, has a passion for writing, which has resulted in the publishing of two children and young adult novels, and a cute picture book. His goal in writing is to create fun adventures for the young reader and those youthful at heart. He inserts elements of God’s word and principles in his fictional stories anywhere he can. Steve has three wonderful daughters, Savannah, Molleigh, and Emily who mean the world to him.

  • Kent Wieber (Chair)

Although born in Montana, Kent is a true Oregonian, living here for over 34 years. He attended college in Salem and found Oregon so beautiful, he decided to stay. He's been a teacher and coach for 28 years, 25 of those right here in Central Oregon. Some of his passions include fishing, golf, pickle ball and travel. Reading is also really important to him and his favorite authors are Francis Shaeffer, CS Lewis, Chuck Colson, Ravi Zacharias and David Noebel. OUR BELIEFS

Our culture continues to change.  Truth has become relative, or hard to find, or non-existent.  What was good yesterday is scorned today.  What was evil yesterday is celebrated today.  If this is confusing to you, you're not alone.  That's why we put our faith in a book that's over 2000 years old and hasn't changed.  The Bible reveals the irrefutable truth... past, present and future.  We read it faithfully, study it vigorously, and apply it humbly and gratefully.
